What is Truth?

The trial of Jesus before the Roman governor is the centrepiece of the passion story in John’s Gospel. The detail provided by John is far greater than that provided by the other Gospel writers, yet it is consistent with the purpose of his work. The issue at the centre of this trial is the validity of the claim that Jesus is the “King of the Jews.” As the trial progresses, Pilate tries to understand the claims of the Jewish authorities, and the explanation given by Jesus ends with the now central question “What is truth?” A question was never more relevant than for today.
